Join us in welcoming Livia Rezende, new Explorations Managing Editor of the Journal of Design History.
Livia Rezende, PhD, SFHEA, holds a doctoral degree from the V&A/Royal College of Art History of Design Programme and is Senior Lecturer in Design History and Theory at the School of Art & Design, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney.
Her current research analyses, from a transnational history perspective, the institutionalisation of design and the rise of authoritarianism as associated events underpinned by Cold War politics.
Dr Rezende has a wealth of editorial experience, having worked as an author, peer reviewer, and guest editor for over twenty years and, in the last ten, as a book series editor, book reviews editor, and Explorations editor for the Journal of Design History (JDH).
To her new role as Explorations Managing Editor, Dr Rezende will bring her passion for supporting peers disseminate their research and exploring new editorial directions that are experimental, follow inclusion principles and foster access to underrepresented groups.
Her vision for developing this section of the JDH includes: (1) Continue to prioritise excellence and encourage publication by early career researchers who have found in Explorations a supportive opportunity to disseminate their work; (2) Run dedicated calls for the submission of specific formats that have great potential to contribute to design history scholarship, like visual essays; and (3) Commission Explorations submissions from authors who have been engaging with experimental forms of writing and varied publication formats.
We look forward to working with Livia on the JDH Editorial Board and wish her a successful tenure.
