The convenors of the DHS 2021 conference, Ernst Meret and Monica Gaspar are sharing some of their reflections on the thematical origins of the event.
We rely so much on devices storing memories in the form of images, videos, texts, or audio files. What if it explodes? What if the “memory full” warning signals that a computer drive or a Cloud account reaches maximum capacity? Such warnings are both irritating, as much as they incite creativity. Responses include upgrading storage, deleting content, or constraining an otherwise unfettered desire to archive everything.
