Society News

6 July 2022

Started by the DHS Ambassadors in 2022, the Provocative Objects and Places blog series looks at places and objects that challenge and confront us as design historians. Previous topics have include the Colosseum in Rome, pink razors, The Woman’s Building at the 1893 Chicago World’s Fair and the RM58 armchair by Roman Modzelewski, among others. A guest contributor spoke about artificial grass as a provocative object.

We invite students, ECRs, established academics and those with a general interest in design history to submit guest blog posts on any object, place or space from any era, anywhere in the world for the series.

If you would like to contribute, please contact the DHS Administrator Jenna Allsopp at designhistorysociety@gmail.com.
