Call for Panel Proposals: DHS Affiliated Society Panel: 115th CAA Annual Conference, New York Hilton Midtown, February 3–6, 2027

The Design History Society invites proposals for an Affiliated Society panel at the College Art Association conference to take place in New York City in 2027. The annual conference gathering organised by CAA provides an opportunity for professionals in the arts, design, culture and its histories to debate current issues in research, education and creative practice.

The DHS welcomes submission of prearranged panel themes from its members. Proposals that consider critical approaches to current topics in design history and design pedagogy are encouraged. Panels may be framed as a set line-up of speakers or as a theme with an open call for papers.

An abstract of up to 250 words of the proposed panel theme and its intended structure (set speakers, or an open call) should be sent to DHS Senior Administrator Jenna Allsopp-Douglas (designhistorysociety@gmail.com) by Sunday 12th April. Notifications of acceptance by the DHS will be sent by Friday 17 April and the selected chairs will submit a final panel proposal via CAA portal by 25 April.

As sponsors of the panel, the DHS can support up to two chairs with CAA annual membership fees and their CAA conference registration fees. Please note the DHS does not contribute towards travel and accommodation costs for chairs or speakers.

Further information on deadlines and guidelines leading up to the conference can be found on the CAA website here: https://collegeart.org/programs/conference/proposals
