Bauhaus Archive
The Bauhaus Archive / Museum of Design in Berlin is concerned with the research and presentation of the history and impact of the Bauhaus
British Film Institute National Archive
An extensive collection of fiction and documentary moving image. Also includes extensive collections of film and television magazines.
Design Archives, University of Brighton
Includes the archives of the Design Council, Icograda, James Gardner and Alison Settle amongst others.
Graphic Design Archives, Rochester Institute of Technology
Collection includes the work of significant graphic designers in the US.
International Textiles Archive, University of Leeds
Includes a collection of woven textiles sample books, textiles from Indonesia, Qing dynasty China and Egypt.
Marks and Spencer Company Archive
The M&S archives offer a rich resource for the study of British retailing and consumption. Now housed in London, it is due to move to a purpose built archive at the University of Leeds.
Mass Observation Archive, University of Sussex
The archive specialises in documenting everyday life in Britain and contains material related to the Mass observation studies between 1937 and 1950, diaries and responses to ‘directives’ on topics such as architecture, advertising, tourism, shopping, teenagers, collecting etc.
Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) Archives
Housed at the V&A the collection contains drawings, correspondence, press cuttings, administrative records and literary sources related to architecture.
Screen Archive South East, University of Brighton
Includes amateur films, documentary footage and promotional material relating to the South East of England. Their website is also host to Screen Search and Screen Search Fashion.
Smithsonian Institution Archives, Washington DC
Includes textual documents, film and sound recordings and photographs relating to the Museum’s collection.
The Textile Collection, University of the Creative Arts
An extensive collection of over 3000 British and world textiles housed at the University of the Creative Arts, Farnham.
