DHS Roles Available

August 22nd 2008

The following positions are available on the Executive Committee of the Design History Society:

Secretary, Design History Society

The Secretary’s key responsibility is to ensure the smooth running of the Society’s business by arranging and minuting Executive Committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting.

Conference Liaison Officer, Design History Society

The Conference Liaison Officer serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Society to maintain a link between the Society and the convenors of the Society’s annual conference. The role was established to offer access to advice and support for convenors and to provide links and continuity between them. The role is a facet of the Society’s commitment to high quality conferences. It is a way of helping to balance the benefits of intellectual autonomy on the part of convenors with the need for consistent core standards year on year.

Essay Prize Officer, Design History Society

The Essay Prize Officer’s overall role is to administer, select, and maintain the standards of the annual DHS Undergraduate and Postgraduate Essay Prize.

Student Representative, Design History Society

The post involves responding to student queries and liaising with other members of the committee about student matters.

Communications Officer, Design History Society

The Communication Officer’s overall role is to maintain high standards of communication between the Society and the members, through both electronic and print media. The Communication Officer is also the guardian of the Design History Society’s ‘brand image’, and should ensure that brand guidelines are followed by other members of the Executive.
